In the Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State, seven communities have been attacked by bandits resulting in the killing of seven people and abduction of 26 others.
Chairman of the LGA, Umar Igede, confirmed the attacks and stated that the banditry has forced hundreds of residents from their homes. In the first quarter of 2023, the bandits have killed hundreds of people, the chairman said.
Due to the incessant attacks, many residents have fled their homes and sought refuge in Internally Displaced Persons' camps in Kontagora and other areas. Kulho, Sahon Rami, and Tashan Hajiya were among the communities terrorized by the bandits.
