Bayo Onanuga, media director for the presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged US President Joe Biden to disregard the letter written by Chimamanda Adichie. Adichie, a renowned Nigerian novelist, had written an open letter to Biden on Thursday, raising concerns about manipulation in the 2023 presidential election and alleging that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ignored discrepancies and irregularities in the election. Adichie also criticized the hasty announcement of Bola Tinubu of the APC as winner of the election without proper investigation.
She urged Biden to uphold democracy and avoid congratulating Tinubu, stating that doing so would harm America's democratic credentials.
Onanuga, in response, dismissed Adichie's letter as a work of fiction inspired by the loss of her tribesman, Peter Obi. On Twitter, he advised Biden to discard the letter once it reaches his desk.
Obi and Atiku have challenged the outcome of the presidential election by filing petitions at the tribunal.
