From trade surplus in Q3, Nigeria recorded N1.4trn trade deficit in Q4 2023 - NBS

National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says Nigeria recorded N1.41 trillion trade deficit between October and December of 2023. On Friday, NBS made this known in its foreign trade report for the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2023. In the period under review, Nigeria’s exports totalled N12.69 trillion, and total imports N14.11 trillion — which gives a trade deficit of N1.41 trillion. Binance deactivates naira pairs on its platform

Cryptocurrency giant Binance has said it will discontinue all its naira services, days after two of its officials were detained in Nigeria. Oil prices rise after OPEC+ extends output cuts

Oil prices rose on Monday after OPEC+ members agreed to extend voluntary oil output cuts of 2.2 million barrels per day into the second quarter, largely in line with market expectations. Brent futures was 28 cents, or 0.3% higher, at $83.83 a barrel at 0134 GMT, while the U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose 20 cents, or 0.3%, to $80.17 a barrel. Shareholders funds wiped out as MTN Nigeria suffers N740bn loss on massive Naira devaluation

MTN Nigeria Plc has reported a loss before tax of N177.8 billion compared to a pre-tax profit of N518.8 billion a year earlier. The losses resulted in a wipe-out of shareholders’ funds. CBN revokes licences of over 4,000 Bureau de Change

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revoked the licences of 4,173 bureau de change (BDC) operators for failing to observe regulatory provisions.
