Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has directed selected passport offices across the country to work on Saturdays in order to clear backlog of passport applications. The NIS said this on Saturday in a statement by Tony Akuneme, its public relations officer. Anambra State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Blessed Iruma, has said that 63 per cent of teachers in the state are corps members. Iruma disclosed this on Saturday, during the 2022 corps employers workshop in Awka. This is contrary to the claims that the state government had approved the employment of no fewer than 5,000 teachers for both primary and secondary schools in the state. Nigeria’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 2.25 percent year-on-year in Q3 2022, down from 3.54 percent in Q2. National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said this in its latest GDP report for the third quarter of 2022. The slow growth was due to the country’s low oil production, as output slumped to 1.20 million barrels per day.
