Johnson, the face of the 2016 Brexit campaign who won a resounding electoral victory in 2019 before leading the United Kingdom out of the European Union, announced he was quitting on Thursday after he was abandoned by ministers and most of his Conservative lawmakers over a series of scandals. The Kremlin said it didn't like Johnson either. "He doesn't like us, we don't like him either," Kremlin spokesman…

Home Secretary Priti Patel, a former close ally, has joined a group of rebel ministers who are urging the PM to stand down. But he has defied the growing calls for him to quit, saying it would not be "responsible" for him to go. Levelling Up Secretary Michael Gove has been fired from his cabinet, after he urged the PM to resign. Johnson earlier told senior MPs it would not be right for him to "walk away" amid economic pressures and…

Neither Atiku Abubakar, Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nor Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) can fix Nigeria’s challenges, Convener of the Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF), Ango Abdullahi, has said. In an interview with Vanguard, Abdullahi said Nigeria will be in chaos if either Tinubu or Atiku emerges president, adding that the duo have nothing to offer the country. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the extension of its Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) across the country. Ahead of the 2023 poll, the commission had fixed the exercise to end on June 30. However, given the renewed interest of Nigerians, most especially the youth, vis-à-vis pressure from other quarters, the commission considered extending the exercise. Without giving a specific date for the new deadline, INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, at the Youth Vote Count concert in Abuja on Saturday, said the exercise continues. “The youth want to know when the registration will end. I want to assure you on behalf…
Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has told the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that his academic certificates were stolen by unknown persons while he was on self exile. Amid the controversy, the APC submitted Lawan’s name to INEC as its senatorial candidate for Yobe north, and Abdullahi…
The fight against corruption has been a top campaign issue in Nigeria’s last two presidential elections, but the history of graft allegations surrounding the two main candidates means neither is likely to raise it in the run-up to February’s vote.
