Police Service Commission had suspended Kyari following his indictment by the FBI. FBI had alleged that suspected billionaire fraudster, Ramon Abbas, better known as Hushpuppi, paid a bribe to Kyari, an allegation the police officer denied. Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have scheduled an emergency meeting to discuss the crisis rocking the party. Seven deputy national officers of the opposition party resigned on Tuesday in protest against what they called “poor leadership”. The national officers had alleged that there is a lack of financial transparency in the party’s leadership. Kalu Agu, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), has asked a federal capital territory (FCT) high court to stop the party from proceeding with its congresses scheduled for Saturday. Agu, who is vying for the position of the national legal adviser in the party’s next national convention said Mai Mala Buni’s position as chairman of the caretaker committee violates Section 183 of the 1999 Constitution which prohibits a governor from holding another executive position. Supreme Court of Nigeria has dismissed the appeal filed by Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party, challenging the election of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu. In the majority judgment, four of the justices of the apex court upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal and the Ondo State Governorship Election Petition. The apex court thereby dismissed the appeal for lack of merit. In a dissenting judgment, Mary Odili, Tijjani Abubakar, and Ejembi Eko, held that the appeal should be allowed.
