Armed persons for several hours late Saturday attacked 15 communities in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, killing at least seven people. Residents said the attacks started from late on Saturday, Christmas Day, to the early hours of Sunday. Apart from the people killed, at least 33 women were kidnapped by the armed bandits, the residents told BBC Hausa. At least five people were killed and more than a dozen injured on Thursday after several explosions near an air force base in Maiduguri, ahead of a visit by President Muhammadu Buhari, residents and a hospital source said. More than 70 travellers have been reportedly abducted along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road in Kaduna State. According to Channels Television, the incident occurred around Udawa village after Buruku in Chikun Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday. A gang of kidnappers has abducted two Islamic clerics after taking time to eat at their residence at Ayetoro in the Yewa-North Local Government Area of Ogun State. Thirty eight (38) persons have been killed in an attack by bandits on several villages in Giwa LGA of Kaduna state.
