Bandits invade outskirts of Zamfara capital, Gusau, kill 7, abduct 33

Armed persons for several hours late Saturday attacked 15 communities in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, killing at least seven people. Residents said the attacks started from late on Saturday, Christmas Day, to the early hours of Sunday. Apart from the people killed, at least 33 women were kidnapped by the armed bandits, the residents told BBC Hausa. The villages attacked include Geba, Kura, Duma, Gana, Tsakuwa, Gidan Kada and Gidan Kaura. The residents said most of the villages were deserted on Sunday evening for fear of more attacks with residents taking refuge in Damba Estate in the state capital.…

At least five people were killed and more than a dozen injured on Thursday after several explosions near an air force base in Maiduguri, ahead of a visit by President Muhammadu Buhari, residents and a hospital source said. Gunmen waylay convoy of vehicles escorted by policemen, abduct 70 travellers

More than 70 travellers have been reportedly abducted along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road in Kaduna State. According to Channels Television, the incident occurred around Udawa village after Buruku in Chikun Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday. Gunmen kill two policemen at checkpoint in Anambra
