At least five people were killed and more than a dozen injured on Thursday after several explosions near an air force base in Maiduguri, ahead of a visit by President Muhammadu Buhari, residents and a hospital source said. No fewer than seven people were killed and others injured following attacks on two villages in Faskari Local Council of Katsina State. More than 70 travellers have been reportedly abducted along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road in Kaduna State. According to Channels Television, the incident occurred around Udawa village after Buruku in Chikun Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday. A witness account said the vehicles conveying the travellers, mainly traders, were attacked by gunmen suspected to be bandits in their large number. Some youths suspected to be thugs on Monday laid siege to some parts of Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife and attacked the Vice-Chancellor, Eyitope Ogunbodede, and other management team members of the university.
