The office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Awka, Anambra State capital, has been set on fire. Suspected militants of the outlawed Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) broke into the office Sunday night. They had engaged security operatives in a gun battle before setting the office on fire. The development comes five months to the gubernatorial election in the state. Nine persons have been killed by suspected herdsmen, including the kindred head of Tse Ancha, Agan council ward, Makurdi Local Government Area Saturday morning, just a few meters from the host community of Abangana IDP camp where seven people were killed about three weeks ago.
