Herdsmen kill nine in Enugu community

No less than nine persons were reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen in Mgbuji- Ehamufu in Isi-Uzo local government of Enugu state during the weekend. Even though some sources put the victim figure at four, other sources close to the village insisted the death figure was nine. Trouble reportedly started when the herders were stopped from cutting down an economic tree to feed their cattle. Another building belonging to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was on Sunday set ablaze in Imo State, Nigeria’s South-east. The INEC office is located at Njaba Local Government Area of the state. “Although no life was lost, the building was substantially burnt down, along with electoral materials, office equipment and furniture,” Festus Okoye, INEC national commissioner in-charge of information and voter education, said in a statement on Sunday. Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters in Ubakala, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, has been attacked by gunmen suspected to be members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Kidnappers have released the remaining 14 students who had been held captive after being abducted last month from a private university in Kaduna, a senior member of the teaching staff said on Saturday.
