Kaduna bandits release 28 schoolchildren, another 81 still held, says negotiator

Kidnappers who raided a boarding school in northern Nigeria earlier this month released 28 children on Sunday but another 81 remain in captivity, according to a pastor involved in the negotiations for their release. The attack on the Bethel Baptist High School in the state of Kaduna was the 10th mass school kidnapping since December in northwest Nigeria, which authorities have attributed to criminal gangs seeking ransom payments. Bandits detain man who took N30m ransom to them for abducted Niger state pupils

Bandits, who abducted 138 pupils of Salihu Tanko Islamiyya School, Tegina, in May in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger state, have seized a man sent to deliver N30 million as another installment of the ransom they demanded from the parents. The parents had earlier sent an initial instalment of N25 million ransom, the head of the abducted students’ school, Abubakar Alhassan, told BBC Hausa Service Sunday morning. Gunmen snatch NECO question papers in Kaduna

Bandits attack Kaduna police armoury, injure three officers

Three officers of the Kaduna police command sustained varying degrees of injuries when bandits attacked the Maraban Jos divisional armoury in Igabi LGA of the state. Court sentences 10 men to prison for ship hijacking

A court in Lagos sentenced 10 men to 12 years in prison on Friday for kidnapping the crew of a Chinese-flagged merchant vessel last year, the navy said, a verdict that officials hope will help tackle piracy in the waters off Nigeria’s coast. Gunmen invade Abuja satellite town, abduct six persons from their homes

Six residents of Tungan-Maje community in Gwagwalada area council of Abuja have been abducted. A resident, identified as Yahaya said the incident happened around 11:46 pm on Monday. Gunmen break into Kogi hospital, abduct medical doctor

Bandits ambush policemen, kill 13 in Zamfara

Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the killing of 13 cops, saying that it has intensified efforts to arrest the perpetrators of the attack.
