British police said on Tuesday they had charged former Nigerian oil minister Diezani Alison-Madueke with bribery offences, saying they suspected she had accepted bribes in return for awarding multi-million pound oil and gas contracts. NDLEA intercepts fake $20m on FCT road - Official

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted $20 million cash suspected to be counterfeit. The agency said its operatives found the stash on Friday during a stop and search operation along Abaji-Lokoja road in the federal capital territory (FCT). In a statement on Sunday, Femi Babafemi, NDLEA spokesperson, said the suspected fake dollars was recovered from a bus coming from Lagos to Abuja, while the driver of the vehicle has been arrested. Fraudsters stole N9.5bn via banks’ e-channels between January and July 2023 - CBN

No fewer than 5,166 Nigerians were killed while there were 1,830 cases of abduction across the country between January and July this year. Federal government prosecutors filed a 20-count indictment against suspended and detained Central Bank of Nigeria governor Godwin Emefiele on Tuesday, one of them accusing him of "conferring unlawful advantages", a government lawyer said.
